Tauranga Hotels - A Place to Stay
54If you have decided to come and visit beautiful Tauranga in the sunny Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, you are in for a treat! But first things first, you are going to need a place to rest your weary head after a fun filled day experiencing all the exciting things to do in Tauranga!
Tauranga has many great accommodation establishments ranging from an international hotel through to camping grounds at the beach. With a little bit of research, you’ll be able to find the perfect place for you!
I've reviewed four of the hotels in Tauranga's CBD. Hopefully it helps you choose the right accommodation option to suit your needs.
Let’s start at the top end of the scale with Tauranga hotels.
Hotel Armitage
Our oldest hotel is the Armitage; it is located on the fringe of the CBD within 5 minutes walking distance to all the shops, restaurants and bars and only a short bus ride or drive over to the famous beaches of Mt Maunganui.
Built in the early 1950’s the Armitage has a long history and many previous owners. Unfortunately this hotel has been neglected and is in need of a major refurbishment. There are many nicer and more modern accommodation options to choose from in Tauranga.
The Sebel Trinity Wharf Hotel
Speaking of which, let’s talk about Tauranga’s newest hotel – The Sebel Trinity Wharf.
Tauranga’s only international hotel, the Sebel Trinity is owned by Mirvac Hotels & Resorts. Only a couple of years old, the Sebel is an over water hotel, which has been designed to take advantage of the glorious harbour views.
With a private pontoon you can arrive by private boat, water taxi or even helicopter.
With five conference rooms of varying sizes, this hotel is perfect to hold a work conference, family gathering and is very popular as a wedding venue.
If you’re looking for a bit of luxury and contemporary style, then this is the hotel for you.
Hotel on Devonport
Hotel on Devonport is another of Tauranga’s newer hotels. You can’t get a better location if you’re looking for accommodation in the heart of the CBD. Hotel on Devonport can be found right in the middle of Devonport Road, Tauranga’s main shopping street. Only a stone’s throw away from The Strand, the hub of the city’s café, restaurant and nightlife.
Because it is a high rise, the hotel is often referred to as the Devonport Towers. Most rooms have spectacular views of either Tauranga harbour or the city.
A seperate wing is available to purchase apartments to live here permenently, so if you like what you see you might want to think about buying one of these stunners.
Kingsview Resort and Towers
Another newish Tauranga hotel, the Kingsview Resort has a range of rooms which are self contained all with full kitchens. You can choose from studio rooms up to a four bedroom apartment. The Kingsview is perfect for longer stays.
Only a 3 minute walk from the CBD this hotel is a reasonable price for luxury accommodation that you can expect. Most rooms have a private balcony for you to admire the view of the city or harbour.
