Titanium Wedding Rings
54What is Titanium?
Originally called "Menachite", it became what we now call titanium two centuries ago by Dr. M H. Klaproth, who named it after the supernatural beings of Greek mythology, the Titans.
Titanium is has no affects on the human body and is in fact used in medicine in heart and bone operations. Since it is neutral to us it won't have an adverse affects on us such as skin irritation or discoloration, like some other metals can cause. Titanium as a jewelry making material is a new trend but one which is beginning to become quite popular due to the toughness and 'life span' of the rings.
Because Aircraft grade titanium is approximately triple the strength of stainless steel, and around half as light. They make terrific wedding rings for both men and woman and are many times more hardier and don't wear nearly as easily as gold, silver, or platinum.
Aside from rings, titanium is also used for numerous other applications such as watches, notebook batteries, many uses in the medical field and furniture to name a small few.

titanium ?
Titanium is a silvery color with a minor charcoal grey shade. In the original form it is quite a bit darker than white gold. It would be matched closest in color to platinum.
Titanium can be anodized giving it a color other than silver, however this doesn't last forever and the color will begin to fade.
Will a titanium ring scratch?
Unfortunately, yes it will. However titanium is much more durable than gold so you wouldn't expect any major scratches. Scuff marks will come with age depending on how hard wearing you are on it.
Can titanium rings be resized?
Not really. Some titanium manufacturers will resize if the difference is no more than 1/4 of a size up or down. Anything more than this you will have to get a whole new ring made.
Are you able to have precious stones set in titanium?
Absolutely! There are some gorgeous mens and womans titanium rings for sale with various vendors. You can get custom made rings just like you would a gold or platinum ring.
