57Do I Need Wedding Insurance?
While some people might think wedding insurance is pessimistic, they're not looking at the bigger picture. Wedding insurance is not just in case you get jilted at the alter, but it covers a whole range of things which are completely out of your control.
Just think of the cost of a wedding these days, it averages around $25,000. That's $25K for ONE day! Can you imagine losing that amount of money? For an ordinary person, the mind boggles at the thought of it!
Let yourself consider this scenario; You are a young woman completely in love with her fiance, you've planned a magnificent wedding day to be celebrated with your closest 150 friends and family. You have your dream venue, dream wedding dress and of course your dream man. Soon you'll be husband and wife and life will be perfect.
Your wedding day dawns and you look out the window and it's raining, in fact it's raining so hard it looks like someone has turned a tap on outside your window. Your heart sinks, but at least you're having an indoor church wedding, so you feel a little better.
You go downstairs only to be told the State Highway has been closed and the bridal party and guests would be unable to get to the reception site. The caterers, florist, cake, band and photographer all have to be cancelled.
Your day is ruined by something you have absolutely no control over. If you'd had event cancellation insurance, you wouldn't have lost a cent, but instead the wet weather has just flushed away $27,000.

You're quite right, wedding insurance isn't a huge expense (especially given the average cost of a wedding these days) and it certainly gives financial peace of mind. It's rare for something significant to go wrong on the big, but if it does at least you know you'll not be left with a huge bill to pay.
